📝 INGREDIENTS: 


For the Dough:

500 grams all-purpose flour

100 grams sugar

10 grams salt

10 grams ground cinnamon

15 grams instant yeast

200 milliliters warm milk

100 grams unsalted butter, softened

3 large eggs

Zest of 1 orange

Zest of 1 lemon


For the Topping:

1 egg (for egg wash)

Dried fruits (such as cherries, figs, and apricots)

Chopped nuts (such as almonds or walnuts)

Sugar for sprinkling


🔔 INSTRUCTIONS: 


STEP 1: PREPARE THE DOUGH

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and ground cinnamon. In a separate bowl, dissolve the instant yeast in warm milk and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Add the yeast mixture, softened butter, eggs, orange zest, and lemon zest to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.


STEP 2: KNEAD AND RISE

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 to 2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.


STEP 3: SHAPE THE BREAD

Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air. Roll it out into a long rectangle, then shape it into a ring by bringing the ends together and sealing them. Place the ring on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.


STEP 4: SECOND RISE

Cover the shaped dough with a cloth and let it rise again for about 30 to 45 minutes until puffy.


STEP 5: ADD TOPPINGS AND BAKE

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the top of the dough with the beaten egg for a shiny finish. Decorate with dried fruits and chopped nuts, then sprinkle with sugar. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.


STEP 6: COOL AND SERVE

Once baked, remove the Rosca de Reyes from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack. Serve it at room temperature, and enjoy this delicious festive treat!
